Level 3 Coach Mentor Qualification

This is the highest level of coaching qualification in the Archery Manager system. Level 3 qualifies you to mentor Level 1 coaches who are working towards their Level 2, train Level 2 coaches, and assess both Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.

At this level you are no longer just coaching archers. You are developing other coaches. You will lead the coaching programme at your club and ensure standards are maintained across all sessions.

What Level 3 Lets You Do

Level 3 qualifies you as a coach mentor and assessor. You will be able to:

  • Mentor Level 1 coaches through their training towards Level 2
  • Deliver Level 2 training to qualified coaches
  • Assess Level 1 and Level 2 candidates
  • Lead and manage the coaching programme at your club
  • Develop coaching standards and session plans for other coaches to follow

This is a leadership role. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of coaching across your club and helping other coaches develop their skills.

Who Can Take This Course

  • Level 2 coaches with at least three years of coaching experience
  • Coaches who have trained at least 50 beginners from novice to intermediate level
  • Coaches who have assisted in developing other coaches
  • Anyone aged 21 or over who wants to lead coaching development

You must hold a current Level 2 qualification and provide evidence of your coaching experience. This includes a log of sessions delivered and archers developed.

How the Training Works

This is an experience-led qualification. You must already be actively coaching and mentoring others. The training builds on your existing skills and adds the formal mentoring and assessment competencies.

  • 15 hours of online learning covering mentoring theory and assessment methods
  • 5 in-house mentoring days where you work with Level 1 and 2 trainees
  • Minimum 12 months of active mentoring under supervision
  • Final assessment of your mentoring and assessment skills

You will be assigned a senior Level 3 assessor who will observe your mentoring and provide feedback over the 12-month period. The online modules cover the theory behind coach development and assessment.

What You Will Learn

Module 1: Mentoring Skills and Coach Development

Four hours online. How to mentor adult learners effectively, give constructive feedback to coaches, and support coaches through their training journey. You will learn about different mentoring styles and when to use them.

Module 2: Advanced Technique Analysis

Four hours online. Deep dive into the biomechanics of archery, advanced fault correction, and how to use video analysis to coach coaches. You will learn to spot subtle technique issues and teach other coaches how to correct them.

Module 3: Coaching Programme Management

Module 4: Assessment and Quality Assurance

Module 5: Supervised Mentoring Practice

Over 12 months you will mentor at least three Level 1 coaches towards their Level 2 qualification. Your senior assessor will observe these mentoring sessions and provide detailed feedback. You will also assist in assessing Level 1 and 2 candidates under supervision.
